About

My great grandfather, John Stephen Owen Blanshard, began his career in the jewellery trade in 1926. He opened and established Tidy & Blanshard, a wholesale diamond company in Hatton Garden.
In 1960, my grandfather Philip John Anthony Blanshard, joined the family business. He achieved a degree in both Gemmology and diamond grading. In 1972 he purchased the jewellery shop at 1 Maryport Street in Devizes, which had already been opened and established in 1866 by Mr. Henry Joseph Johnson.
We are still based here today, and proudly display our jewellery and watches in the original 19th century cabinets. The building has a historical and special energy that tells a story to everyone who enters, and we are delighted to still have the opportunity to trade here.
My mother, Ruth Blanshard joined the family business at the age of 21 having achieved a degree in Gemmology with the Gemmological Association of Great Britain.
I myself, Rachel Nield joined the business at the age of 15 working Saturdays at first and quickly absorbed the passion for the trade along with the joy of helping others each and every day.
I achieved my professional jewellers diploma with the NAJ (National Association of Jewellers) in 2018 and also achieved my degree in Gemmology in 2020.
We have always recognised the importance of individuality and customer service, especially the personable service that can be provided from one family to another.
We pride ourselves in having a long established and loyal customer base to expand on in the future. We are elated at the success of our family business thus far and hope to expand on it in the coming years.
As a close family we all share a huge passion for everything that we do along with the knowledge to reflect this. We are excited for future years to come, and endeavour to evolve and move with the developing jewellery industry.
